Apple & Oat Dog Biscuits

15–20 minutes baking · Oven: 350°F (about 175°C)

Source estimate: about 30 biscuits. Cutter size and dough thickness change the yield.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups freeze-dried apples
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅔ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ⅓ cup natural smooth peanut butter, without xylitol
  • 4 cups rolled oats

Step by step

  1. Preheat to 350°F and line a baking sheet. Chop the freeze-dried apples into approximately ¼-inch pieces.

  2. Combine eggs, applesauce and peanut butter, then mix in the oats and chopped apple.

  3. Bring the mixture together on a clean surface. Flatten to ¼–½ inch thick and cut into shapes.

  4. Transfer to the prepared sheet. Bake for 15–20 minutes, then cool completely on a rack.

Ingredient checks

  • Choose plain freeze-dried apples and unsweetened applesauce, without added flavorings.
  • Check peanut butter for xylitol, also called birch sugar; never use it in dog treats.
  • Contains peanuts, eggs and oats.

Serving & keeping

Offer a small piece first, supervise, and choose a size and texture your dog can manage. WSAVA recommends keeping all treats together to no more than 10% of daily calories. We have not calculated calories per biscuit, so there is no universal number to feed.
