Sweet Potato, Banana & Oat Dog Biscuits

30–35 minutes baking · chill ahead · Oven: 180°C (about 356°F)

Batch yield depends on cutter size and thickness; the source does not provide a fixed biscuit count.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 60 g cooked, mashed sweet potato
  • 160 g oats, ground into flour, or oat flour

Step by step

  1. Peel and cut the sweet potato. Boil until soft, around 10–15 minutes, then drain and cool completely. Measure 60 g for the dough.

  2. Grind the oats into flour, unless using oat flour. Blend the banana with the cooled sweet potato.

  3. Mix in the oat flour and bring the mixture together into dough. Cover and refrigerate ahead of baking; Battersea suggests up to six hours or overnight.

  4. Heat the oven to 180°C. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to about 1 cm thick and cut into biscuits.

  5. Transfer to a lined baking tray. Bake for 30–35 minutes, checking that the centers are cooked.

  6. Cool completely. Break into pieces appropriate for your dog before serving.

Ingredient checks

  • Use plain cooked sweet potato, without butter, salt or seasoning.
  • A kitchen scale keeps the source quantities accurate; cup measures for oats vary with grinding and packing.
  • Oats are not suitable for every dog. Ask your veterinarian first if your dog has food allergies or a prescribed diet.

Serving & keeping

Offer a small piece first, supervise, and choose a size and texture your dog can manage. WSAVA recommends keeping all treats together to no more than 10% of daily calories. We have not calculated calories per biscuit, so there is no universal number to feed.

Cool fully before putting away. These recipes have no shelf-life testing from us; avoid assuming they are shelf-stable. Refrigerate promptly or freeze portions for later, and discard anything with mold or an unusual smell.
